The Paradise Cocktail

There is nothing better than a tropical drink, right ? Well how about a layered tropical ! This is the Paradise cocktail.

I like to think half of the appeal in a cocktail is in it’s look and aesthetic, of course this only goes so far and the taste of it will determine whether you will purchase or make that it again. The Paradise cocktail is a perfect example of an aesthetically pleasing tropical drink that tastes as good as it looks.

I came across this recipe when watching Drinks Made Easy’s YouTube channel and I also found the same recipe in other videos, so it seems to be somewhat known although I have never heard of it before now. The beauty of this drink is that the ingredients in it are not that expensive or hard to obtain and the preparation for it can be done easily regardless of your ability level with drinks making.

In my opinion this is a perfect summers drink that would impress any of your friends or family and would fit in well at a party or gathering. I may be slightly biased here (because tropical cocktails are my favourite kind) but I think the Paradise cocktail is a top tier drink that can appeal to anyone. Here is how it is made.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 oz. (15ml) Grenadine

  • 3 oz. (90ml) Pineapple juice

  • 2 oz. (60ml) Malibu Coconut Rum

  • 1/4 oz. (7.5ml) Blue Curacao

  • 1 oz. (30ml) Water

Preparation

  1. In a mixing glass mix your Pineapple juice and Malibu and stir.

  2. In another mixing glass mix and stir your Blue Curacao and water.

  3. Add your Grenadine into a Hurricane or Highball glass.

  4. Fill the rest of the glass with crushed ice.

  5. Add your Pineapple juice and Malibu mixture

  6. Add your Blue Curacao and water mixture

Futher Information

Adding water to your Blue Curacao is essential for this recipe, this is because of the alcohol density’s /weights featured in the drink. The only thing in this heavier than Blue Curacao is the Grenadine and the Malibu and Pineapple juice have their own different weights, so adding water to the Blue Curacao to dilute it is vital so your layers do not fall and mix to ruin the drinks look.

You may notice that in the preparation for this I did not mention using a bar spoon like I have for the layered Shots & Shooter featured on the website to add the layers to this drink. This is because if you have added enough ice into your glass this will help slow to pour of the mixture going into the drink which will be enough to layer them.

Be careful also when adding a straw , stirrer or decoration to this drink and putting them in too fast can ruin your layers.
