If only there were a drink that encompassed all the great feelings and memories, we have of the Summertime. Well there is now, this is our own original recipe for The Endless Summer.
If I had to list some of the best times and memories, I have had in my life so far, I would say 90% of them would come from times spent with friends and family during the summer. There is just something about those few months of the year that bring a smile to my face and a positive vibe around everyone. So, with this in mind and along with us wanting to share some of our own original cocktail recipes, I wanted to create a drink that includes all those great flavours and feelings we associate with Summer.
If you have read our articles on other drink on this site, you will know we are big fans of tropical drinks that make use of fresh fruit juices. The flavour and tones you can get out of drinks like these are incredible and when paired with your favourite spirits and other flavours that pair well together you can end up with something special. So, with that in mind when planning out what we wanted this drink to taste like we went with a variety of fruit juices including Pineapple , Orange, Cranberry , Lemon and Lime. It may sound like we just picked out all the ingredients regularly used in cocktails, but there is a method to this. Just like in cooking there is a science of specific flavours that pair well together in mixology/drinks making. You can read about this on many websites or spend money on expensive cook books, but to save you some time we suggest you use www.ingredientpairings.com where you can type in an ingredient and it will give you a long list of flavours that will pair well with it.
Along with this we used the famous 2:1:1 ratio for cocktail making (we will be making informative articles on these sorts of subjects soon) to make the drink well balanced in terms of spirits, sweet and sour. The spirits themselves also carry a lot of flavour with them. Coconut , Vanilla, Orange, and Black Raspberry all coming from the choice of Rum, Vodka, Triple Sec and Chambord. So all the ingredients in this one have been carefully chosen to bring the ultimate tropical sweet experience to anyone who drinks it, certainly if you are a fan of drinks such as Sex on The Beach, Tequila Sunrise or a Bahama Mama then you will love this one.
Maybe the one criticism we have is it is a bit overloaded with ingredients and we would have loved to have more of an orange colour with a Grenadine sunrise effect going on. But when it comes to the taste and presentation, we are really proud of one of our first original creations. So, if like us you just do not want the Summer to end and want one last warm happy moment , this is how to make The Endless Summer.
