Both a Shooter and a long drink, the Surfer on Acid is a very tasty modern creation with a unique name.
Originally the Surfer on Acid was a mixture of sweet liqueurs such a Banana Liqueur , Peach schnapps and Coconut schnapps. However, in the early 90’s Los Angeles bartender Eric Tecosky got rid of this sickly recipe and made something even better. When working at his bar a group of people ordered a round of “Surfer on Acid” , when asking what was in this he decided to scrap this recipe too but keep the name and apply it to a Jägermeister based shot he had been working on. Of course, he decided to add to this Coconut rum and Pineapple juice to create what we now know as the modern classic. Its unique sweet taste has given it a name in a lot of bars worldwide and for the most part you would not know that Jägermeister was in it.
I certainly enjoyed my first try of this and I now consider it one of my top 10 favourite shooters !
Here is how it is made.
Ingredients
1oz. (30ml) Jägermeister
1oz. (30ml) Coconut Rum
1oz. (30ml) Pineapple juice
Garnish: Lime wedge
Preparation
In an ice filled shaker combine the Coconut Rum Jägermeister and Pineapple juice.
Shake for 10-15 seconds
Strain mixture into shot glass or Old-fashioned glass (depending on what type of drink you are going for)
Garnish with Lime wedge.
Further Information
As stated, this can be both a shooter and a long drink. This recipe is enough to make 2-3 shots or fill one Old-Fashioned glass’s worth. So, if you want more shots or more glass’s worth, just scale up the ingredients
