Painkiller

In need of some relief? Well, we have the perfect cocktail for you. This is the Painkiller.

Prep time: 2-3 minutes

Serves : 1

Strength : Moderate

In the world of cocktails there are many famous Rum and tiki style drinks , among some of the favourites is the Painkiller. The Painkiller originates from at the Soggy Dollar Bar at White Bay on the island of Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands. Its original creator is still unknown but is thought to be a former bartender of the Soggy Dollar Bar. It was originally made using Cruzan Rum.

In 1989 Pusser Rum Ltd filed for a trademark on the name and recipe of the Painkiller. When a Tiki Bar named Painkiller opened in New York City in 2011 , Pussers sent a cease and desist order to the owners for selling cocktails named Painkiller without Pussers Rum in it. The bar was renamed during the settlement and numerous bartenders boycotted Pussers Rum in response.

The cocktail includes many traditional ingredients found in Tiki drinks such as Rum , Cream of Coconut and Pineapple juice. It’s flavour and build are very close to that of a Pina Colada with a creamy sweet taste and a the sprinkle of Nutmeg on top providing a unique kick of spicy flavour.

This is a cocktail that is easy to make and even easier to drink. No doubt it is a must try for those Tiki lovers out there and a perfect drink to have in your hand at any time.
