Matador

Simple Tequila drinks let us be honest it is what we all want and this one will tick all the boxes for you. This is the Matador.

Tequila cocktails for me are the best cocktails to make to understand balancing flavours and how to make great drinks in general. The Matador is yet another example of one of these drinks. If you have read our article on making a well-balanced Margarita, then you will know just how great a Tequila based drink can be when the spirit , sweet and sour components are added in the correct ratios.

The Matador is similar in this way although there is more sweet than spirits in it, the overall taste is similar with you being able to get a hint of the Tequila, but the overriding taste is the sweet Pineapple juice. There is also an element of sour coming from the Lime juice , but this is barely noticeable and is there to again tone down the Tequila and make sure the drink is not too sweet.

This drink does not really have an official glass it is served in so feel free to use what you have handy. I personally think a simple highball glass is good enough, but you will see some people serve it in a champaign flute or in higher quantities a Hurricane glass.

It is a very light drink and you would probably find yourself getting through it very quickly like a lot of mixed drinks, so remember to take your time with these if you can. Here is how to make a Matador.
