Los Altos

A Tequila Collins drink with sharp and clean flavours. This is the Los Altos.

Prep time : 3 minutes

Serves : 1

Strength : Moderate

Tequila based cocktails are often associated with other ingredients such as fruit juices and salt ( the Margarita being the most famous of these drinks). However, the Los Altos is evidence that Tequila drinks do not have to be restricted to these few forms and changing things up can have great results.

This is a Collins style drink ( a long drink with Soda water being used to top it off) , so its overall all taste is very light and refreshing but with a variation in bittersweet flavours as well. The Campari and Agave syrup help give it a good balance of this along with the use of the usual fruit juices.

It is a slight change on what you may be use to, but give the Los Altos a chance and you may have a new perspective on Tequila.

Here is how it is made.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. (60ml) Tequila

  • ½ oz. (15ml) Lime juice

  • 2 oz. (60ml) Orange juice

  • 3 Tsp Agave syrup

  • 2 Tsp Campari

  • Soda water (to top)

Garnish: Lime wedge and Orange slice

Preparation

  1. Add ice into a shaker.

  2. Add all ingredients apart from the Soda water into the shaker.

  3. Shake well till chilled and pour into a hurricane glass over ice.

  4. Top with soda water.
