Knickerbocker

Nothing spells the end of Winter and start of Spring like a flavourful fruity drink. This is the Knickerbocker.

Prep time : 4 minutes

Serves : 1

Strength : Moderate

Just as we covered hot and Whiskey based drinks over the Winter period, as we get closer to the Summer we’ll be showing you just how to make some incredibly delicious tropical drinks that won’t go a miss on a hot summers’ day. The Knickerbocker has all the great aspects of cocktails that you’d associate with the warmer time of the year.

It’s a drink that is a classic , in fact it dates back to mid 1800’s New York that’s name comes from the Dutch settlers who wore their pants (knickers) rolled up just below the knee. Today it’s very much a drink that you’d throw into the same category as many other sweet Rum drinks that have a similar ingredient build.

There are so many great flavours that come from this cocktail. The Raspberry syrup along with the Lime juice and Cointreau provide a refreshing sweet and sour flavour which pairs well with a Golden Rum. In a way it has a very dark fruits kind of appeal to it. The garnishes on it just top off what is a standout seasonal drink.

If you love your tropical fruity summer drinks to have by the pool, then this is one you’ll want to keep in mind come June.

Here is how it is made.
