Kir Royale

Drinks like these are made for royalty. This is the Kir Royale.

Prep time : 1 minute

Serves : 1

Strength : Moderate

The Kir Royale is a take on a popular French drink known as the Kir. This was a combination of Bulgarian dry white wine and Crème de Cassis and this drink dates back the 19th Century and then gained further popularity after World War Two. The Kir Royale differs from this due to asking for specifically Champagne, while another variation the Kir Imperial calls for Sparkling Wine and Raspberry Liqueur.

This is a very simple cocktail as it only requires two ingredients that are poured straight into the glass. It is important to pour the liqueur into the glass first as this ensures the ingredients mix naturally. The sweetness of the liquors pairs so well with the light bubbly crispness of the Champagne and makes for a pleasant drinking experience.

This is a great cocktail for celebrating grand occasions with or even just kicking back and relax with on an off day.

Here is how it is made.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. (30ml) Chambord or Crème de Cassis

  • 3 ½ oz. (45 ml) chilled Prosecco or Champagne

Garnish : Raspberries

Preparation

  1. Add the Chambord or Crème de Cassis to the bottom of a Champagne flute.

  2. Top off with the chilled Prosecco or Champagne.

  3. Add a few Raspberries into the glass.
