Hot Buttered Rum

A bit of butter can go a long way, even with a bit of Rum. This is the Hot Buttered Rum.

It’s not often you will come across a simple but somewhat bizarre recipe for an alcoholic hot drink like this. The Hot Buttered Rum only requires a few basic ingredients but can make for a solid hot drink that will fit in well during the winter months.


Its flavour is very Rum dominant even with the added citrus flavour from the Lemon peel and Cinnamon stick. The butter also adds a certain sweet texture element to this drink which tones down the intense Rum flavour.


This is a very simple hot drink and there is nothing overly special with it flavour, but if you are a person that like their Rum and wants to incorporate it into a winter style hot drink then this is one for you. Here is how it is made.





Ingredients

 
  • 2 oz. ( 60ml) White Rum

  • 6 oz. (180ml) Hot water

  • A square of butter

  • Lemon Peel

  • Cinnamon Stick








Preparation

 
  1. Place the Lemon Peel and Cinnamon Stick in a glass.

  2. Pour in the Rum and hot water.

  3. Add the butter and stir.
