Gingerbread is a standard feature of Christmas time, so it is only appropriate to have a Gingerbread focused recipe here to share with you all. The Gingerbread martini is a spectacular dessert-style cocktail that has a smooth creamy texture and a sweet biscuit-like flavour to it that you will love!

Baileys Irish Cream is what gives this drink its creamy texture and flavour base along with a good bit of Vanilla Ice Cream. Homemade Gingerbread Syrup is key in this recipe as well as it creates that slight spice flavour that is associated with Gingerbread and brings this cocktail to life.

This is a drink that will definitely impress your friends and family and they will all be begging you to make more after just one.

Here is how it is made.

Ingredients

Gingerbread Syrup

  • 2 tbsp.coarsely grated peeled ginger

  • 2 (3") cinnamon sticks

  • 4 whole cloves

  • 175g granulated sugar

Cocktail

  • 1 oz. (30ml) Baileys Irish Cream

  • 1 oz. (30ml) Vodka

  • 1/2 oz. (15ml) Kahlua Coffee Liqueur

  • 1/2 oz. (15ml) Homemade Gingerbread Simple Syrup

  • 2 tbsp Vanilla Ice Cream

Rim: Crush Gingerbread Men

Garnish: Whipped Cream, Ground Cinnamon and a Gingerbread man

Preparation

Gingerbread syrup

  1. In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, bring ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and 300ml of water to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring occasionally, until liquid is reduced by about half, about 20 minutes.

  2. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Let cool for about 10 minutes. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a container.

Cocktail

  1. Place crushed Gingerbread men on a small plate. Pour some gingerbread syrup onto another shallow plate. Dip the rim of a martini glass into gingerbread syrup, then dip into the crushed biscuits to coat.

  2. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine ice cream, Baileys, vodka, Kahlúa, and gingerbread syrup. Cover and shake until the outside of the shaker is very frosty, about 20 seconds.

  3. Pour and strain into your Martini glass

  4. Garnish with whipped cream with ground cinnamon sprinkled on top and a Gingerbread man.
