The Martini family of cocktails is a big one and some recipes are more complex than others using more ingredients. However the French Martini falls into the category of very simple to make with little preparation , which for a lot of people is what they are looking for in a good cocktail. It was invented in the 1980s at one of Keith McNally's New York City bars and has since gone on to grow in popularity around the world.

The aspect of this cocktail that makes it a “French Martini” is the Chambord, a Black Raspberry liqueur that is produced in France since 1685. Technically it is not a true Martini but is of now many drinks that has adopted the Martini name based on its use of Vodka and its traditional method of being served in a Martini glass.

The Pineapple juice does a great job of further sweetening up this drink and taking the sharp edge off the Vodka which makes this a great cocktail for those who are not fans of the traditional Martinis but want to explore these drinks with a bit more of a kick to them.

Here is how it is made.
