El Diablo

A drink straight from the devil himself, but there is nothing bad about it. This is El Diablo.

It is always fun to use exciting new ingredients in a cocktails and this one makes use of some unique flavours and tones. We will be the first to admit Ginger Beer is not our favourite drink of choice but along with everything else this drink has going on; it stands out well and brings a lot to the table.

This recipes comes from the Tipsy Bartender website if you have not checked them out go ahead. Their website is good for some of the more extravagant and creative looking cocktails as well as some bartender classics.

The Ginger Beer provides a bitter but refreshing flavour and along side it the sweetness of the Crème De Cassis (Black currant Liqueur) tones down the intensity which is good if like use Ginger Beer is not your favourite to begin with. The small amount of Lime Juice also adds that bit of sour you loo for in most drinks and ensures that the drink comes out well balanced.

Also, just a small detail to notice, we really love the use of the Lime wedge garnish in the El Diablo to create devil horns. It is the small things that sometimes make a drink stand out and catch your eye and we thought this was very creative. So, give it a go, it is a great drink to get you onto Ginger Beer if you have never tried it or was not always won over by it like us. Here is how it is made.

Additional Information

The recipe does not specify whether to use alcoholic or non-alcoholic Ginger Beer, so we would leave this to personal choice. We went with non-alcoholic for this one just to tone things down. But if you like strength in your drinks then feel free to go with a alcoholic Ginger Beer.
