It is well known how versatile a Mojito can be. There are so many great flavours and variations of them , that it can be hard to decide which one you want to try next. Well here we have a truly unique flavoured Mojito that makes use of the Dragonfruit. This is a seasonal fruit here in the UK, so it feels a bit more special using it in a cocktail like this. Its sweet fruity nature fits in perfectly with other summer fruits such as Mango or Pineapple and is a pefect choice to use in a Mojito recipe.


The buold of this drink is very similar to a classic Mojito, but with a few small twists. Along with the traditional Mint and Lime, Dragonfruit chunks and homemade Dragonfruit syrup are muddled togther to get that flavourful base that every Mojito needs. In terms of Rum you can use a normal White Rum , or opt for something to match the fruity flavours of this drink such as a Mango Rum. Soda Water is ever present to keep that refreshing sipping experience that hits so well in the hot weather.



We would say if you are stuck on what Mojito to try next and want something completely different to what most bars would have to offer, then this Dragonfruit variation is a great choice. It's stellar look and sweet flavour make it a must try.


Here is how it is made.









Dragonfruit Mojito Ingredients

 
  • Dragonfruit chunks

  • 6 Mint leaves

  • 1 1/2 oz. (45 ml) Light or Mango Rum

  • 1 oz. (30 ml) Lime Juice or the juice of one muddled Lime

  • 1/2 oz. (15 - 20 ml) Dragonfruit Syrup

  • Soda Water to top


Garnish : Dragonfruit chunks and a Mint Sprig












Preparation

 
  1. Muddlle together mint , Lime juice, Dragonfruit chunks and Dragonfruit syrup.

  2. Add crushed or cubbed ice with mint leaves and Dragonfruit distributed throughout.

  3. Add the Rum.

  4. Top with Soda Water and stir gently.

  5. Garnish with a Mint sprig and Dragonfruit slice.
