Christmas Cosmo

A little festive twist of a all time favourite Vodka cocktail. This is the Christmas Cosmo.

If you have seen our recipe article on the original Cosmopolitan , then you will know just how popular the drink has become in modern times and is a favourite with many who enjoy a Vodka based cocktail. Its simple recipe and sweet fruity flavour work so well and that is why the name has become so recognisable and even has been adopted as a name for a now world famous magazine.

When it comes to famous drink, people like to take them and add their own personal twists to keep the original appeal of the drink but give it something extra to create a new cocktail that may take off. The Christmas Cosmo takes all the original best parts of a Cosmopolitan and throws in new components such as Pomegranate juice and new garnishes in Raspberries and a Lime twist instead of the usual orange peel or twist.

The small differences here do make for a different experience than what you would be used to in a normal Cosmopolitan. Pomegranate juice is very much like Cranberry juice with its tart bitter taste but slight sweetness so it blends in well but is still noticeable. So, try it out and see if you prefer it to the original. Here is how it is made.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ oz. (45ml) Vodka

  • ½ oz. (15ml) Cointreau or Triple Sec

  • ½ oz. (15ml) Lime juice

  • 1 oz. (30ml) Cranberry juice

  • 1 oz. (30ml) Pomegranate juice

Preparation

  1. Fill shaker halfway with ice.

  2. Add in all your ingredients.

  3. Shake well for 10-15 seconds.

  4. Pour and strain into a coupe glass.

  5. Garnish with Raspberries (or Pomegranate seeds) in the drink and a lime twist on the glass.
