Some cocktails have their time and place in a day, Breakfast is no exception for this. The Breakfast Martini brings that sweet orange flavour that you might associate with your first meal of the day and would fit in with a lot of breakfast foods of choice. For some people this will feel a bit out of place , but trust us it will be a great new option for you to try. Created by the London Bartender Salvatore Calabrese as a drink that could be enjoyed any time of day, this modern classic came about simply because Calabrese wanted to opt for something different to his usual Espresso Martini in the morning and he just so happend to be eating Orange Marmalade on toast at the time.

Despite the name, this cocktail does not share much with a traditional Martini, opting to use Gin instead of Vodka and including other ingredients such as Orange liqueur and Orange Marmalade to give it that sweet flavour many can be familiar with. You can play about with the Gin you use in this as well as use any Orange Liqueur from Cointreau , Triple Sec or Grand Marnier.

This is a great cocktail that can be enjoyed any time of day despite its name. Its balance of sweetness and tartness make for a great pre-dinner aperitif or something to sip on late night.

Here is how it is made.

  • 1/2 oz. (15 ml) Orange Liqueur (Cointreau, Triple Sec or Grand Marnier)
