Blueberry Mojito

It is another great twist on the Mojito and this time we are going with Blueberries. This is the Blueberry Mojito.

Some drinks and cocktails are versatile to the point where you have endless possibilities when it comes to making and adjusting them. The Mojito is a perfect example of this. If you have not already read our articles on the classic Mojito and Pineapple Mojito, we suggest you do to see just what we are talking about. This time we are throwing Blueberries into the mix and it really is a personal favourite of ours.

Just like the Pineapple version of the Mojito the sweetness of the Blueberries compliment the sour from the Limes in the drink and once you muddle these together, you get a perfect balance of the two to carry the drinks flavour. Of course, you have the usually aromatic and fresh presence of the mint in the drink which along side a small amount of Soda water makes for what is in a lot of people’s opinion the ultimate refreshing cocktail.

Everyone will have a preference on what type of Mojito they like the most, we have a feeling the Blueberry variant will be a top choice and the flavour is not too intense but is defiantly there to fit in well with the rest of the drink. So, give it a go and see where it ranks with you. Here is how it’s made.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. (60ml) Light Rum

  • 1 oz. (30ml) Sugar Syrup

  • Mint leaves

  • 3 Lime wedges

  • Blueberries

  • Splash of Soda Water

Garnish: Mint Spring and Blueberries

Preparation

  1. Muddle Blueberries, Lime wedges and Sugar Syrup in the bottom of a glass.

  2. Fill the glass with ice adding more Blueberries throughout.

  3. Add the Light Rum and top with Soda water.

  4. Garnish with a Mint spring and Blueberries.

Further information

Mojitos in general can be made with either crushed or non-crushed ice. This is completely down to your preference, we would usually recommend crushed as it makes for easier drinking and looks better.
