Blue Jamaican Long Island

The famous Long Island Iced Tea has many different variations. The Blue Jamaican Long Island may just be one of the strongest and most visually appealing. Buckle up this one is going to leave you dizzy.

I came across this recipe on the Tipsy Bartender website, it really piqued my interest due to its unique look and similarity to the original Long Island Iced tea (of which I am a big fan). Another thing that caught my attention about this drink is the fact it is 63.5% alcohol , with Sour mix being the only component in it that is not a spirit. It seemed very much like a drink designed for getting drunk appose to being flavourful and pleasant to sip on. After I had made and tried it I discovered that after you get passed the layer of Dark Rum on top, this cocktail does become more bearable and the Sour mix does do it’s job of neutralising some of the stronger alcohol tastes including the Tequila.

It certainly would not be my first choice of drink at a bar or party, but you tend to always have a friend that loves testing these “university drinks” that serve no purpose but to get you drunk. So, it may certainly have its place in the world of drinking. I myself from time to time love to experiment with high alcohol content cocktails like these , however it would be foolish to have more than one. But if you have a wild side and want to try something new and exciting to get your night started on a fast note, then the Blue Jamaican Long Island may be for you. Here is how it is made.

This recipes ingredient quantities don’t fit in a traditional highball or Collins glass, so you can opt to scale down the quantities or invest in a larger glass for drinks like these.
