Jägermeister comes to life in another addition to the Sour cocktail family. This is the Black Forest Sour.

For some Jägermeister is an acquired taste , as the Herbal flavoured spirit can standout quite strongly in any drink it is in. But if you can find the right ingredients to pair with it , the result can be something quite unique and flavourful. The Black Forest Sour is another great addition to the Sour family that has a black forest style flavour profile that you won’t find in your commonly know cocktails.
As with all other Sour cocktails, you start with a base of Lemon juice , Simple syrup and an egg white but in this recipe you will find the addition of Pineapple juice. This further creates a nice smooth layer of foam on the drink once all ingredients have been shaken together that makes for easy pleasant drinking. The main focus here however is the combination of Jägermeister and Cherry Brandy, which creates that almost berry like forest flavour.
Jägermeister has a bad reputation for its medicinal flavour and being a college drink aimed at getting young people drunk, but with the right ingredient pairings it can be a part of something special. Try this out and see if the Black Forest Sour can change your mind.
Here is how it is made.
Ingredients
1 1/3 oz. (40 ml) Jägermeister
1 tsp (5ml) Cherry Brandy
1/3 oz. (10 ml) Lemon Juice
1/3 oz. (10ml) Simple Syrup
½ Egg White
Garnish : Cherry Skewer
Preparation
Add all ingredients into a shaker without ice and shake well for 30 seconds.
Add ice to the shaker and shake again till chilled.
Pour and strain into a rocks glass over ice.
Garnish with a Cherry Skewer.
