Classic Prohibition era cocktails typically provide a whole lot of flavour from very few ingredients, this one is no exception. The Bees Knees was invented by Frank Meier an Austrian-born part Jewish bartender who was the head bartender at the Ritz in Paris during 1921 when its Cafe Parisian opened. Since then, it has remained a famous Gin drink and has its place in cocktail history. The name comes from prohibition-era slang meaning "the best."
It’s combination of Gin , Honey Syrup , Orange, and Lemon juice make for a slightly dry but sweet experience that is very refreshing. Also, the Gin you use in this cocktail will change your tasting experience a bit. For example, using a London Dry Gin will put more emphasis on the Juniper in it , whereas using a more modern Gin will bring out more of the floral and citrus notes. It is well worth trying out different types to see what your preference is.
If Gin cocktails are your thing, then you will want to give this one a go. Its sweet and refreshing appeal is enough to show you just why it is an all-time classic cocktail.
