Traditionally when you think of Tequila based cocktails, your mind might go straight to Margaritas as they are some of the most well known and popular. But there are plenty of other options out there and here we have a Tequila cocktail that is not only full of flavour but is so simple to make on a moment’s notice.

The 212 cocktail was originally made by beverage consultants Aisha Sharpe and Willy Shine as a long drink that is easy to make and great to sip on. 212 is not only the area code for Manhattan but also the proportions of the ingredients used in this drink. Sharpe and Shine called for the use of a Bitter Orange Aperitif specifically Aperol as it brings much of the sweetness to this drink. A more bitter option such as Campari would make this drink a bitter harder for most people to enjoy. The end result is a nice sweet but in some ways sharp flavour as Tequila is still prominent in this recipe but is balanced out well with the dryness of the Grapefruit juice and sweetness of the Aperol.

If you are looking for something simple but different, then the 212 will be an option you will want to try out. Certainly for you Tequila lovers, it will be a long standing favourite.

Here is how it is made
